Hey there, Lake Griffin Estates neighbors! It’s time we had a little chat about something that’s been causing quite a stir in our lovely community. Ever received one of those intimidating letters from a law firm, out of the blue, right after a “friendly reminder” from our HOA? You’re not alone. Let’s dive into what’s happening and why it matters to us all.
What’s Going On with These Legal Notices?
In our HOA community, it’s becoming a pattern to receive lawyer-drafted notices that come with a legal fee. The kicker? These fees aren’t approved by any HOA committee or voted on, which goes against Florida’s HOA regulations, specifically section 720. Florida section 720 clearly outlines the process for notifying parcel owners and the timeframe they have to respond. So, why are legal notices being sent without this due process?
Why This Matters to You
Imagine getting a letter from a law firm for something you thought was just a small issue. It’s not just about the surprise legal fee; it’s about the lack of transparency and accountability. As residents, we have the right to be notified properly and given a fair amount of time to address any issues, as per section 720. So why the rush to legal action?
Time to Get Involved!
Our next annual meeting to vote for board members is coming up in June 2025. This is your chance to make your voice heard. Keep an eye out for the letters that will be sent out in May, and make sure to attend the meeting. We’ll post the link to the Zoom meeting as soon as it’s available.
